About the firm

Practical legal advice, delivered by the lawyer who owns your matter

Fixus Law is a Tanzanian law firm based on Asmara Street in Dar es Salaam. We advise businesses, investors and individuals on the legal questions that shape their plans.

Who we are

A firm built around clarity and accountability

Clients come to a law firm with a decision to make: whether to sign, to buy, to invest, to hire, to build, or to challenge something that has gone wrong. Our role is to make that decision safer and better informed.

We work on corporate and commercial matters, land and property, mining, oil and gas, immigration, public-private partnerships and infrastructure, agriculture, and investment. Much of our work sits where those areas meet: a property bought by a project company, a mine licensed to a joint venture, a foreign employee hired by a new subsidiary.

We do not overstate what we can achieve, and we do not hide risk to win an instruction. If a matter is better handled elsewhere, we will say so.

How we work

Four principles that shape every matter

These are the working habits the firm holds itself to, whatever the size of the instruction.

01

Listen first

We start by understanding the commercial or personal outcome you need, not by reciting the law at you.

02

Assess honestly

We tell you where the real risk sits, what the process involves and what it will cost before work begins.

03

Advise plainly

Advice is written so that a decision-maker can act on it, with the options and their consequences set out clearly.

04

Stay accountable

One responsible lawyer owns your matter from first enquiry through to completion, and keeps you informed.

Who we advise

Clients and matters we are suited to

The firm is structured to give a senior lawyer's attention to each file.

Businesses

Companies setting up, contracting, employing, leasing, expanding or restructuring in Tanzania.

Investors and sponsors

Local and foreign investors and project sponsors who need approvals, structures and documentation that will hold.

Individuals

People who need advice on property, immigration, employment or a dispute affecting their own interests.

The team

How the firm is organised

Fixus Law is a small, senior team. Each matter is handled by the lawyer accountable for it, with administration and accounts supporting the file.

Leads the firm's practice, supervises client matters and is accountable for the quality of advice given.

Partners and Advocates

Advise and represent clients on transactions, regulatory work and disputes across the firm's practice areas.

Lawyers

Carry out research, drafting, due diligence and day-to-day management of client files.

Administration

Handles client onboarding, file management, scheduling and correspondence.

Accounts

Manages billing, receipts and the firm's financial records.

Fixus Law works as a small, senior team so that each client's matter is handled by the person responsible for it. Individual profiles are published only once the firm has confirmed each colleague's name, title and the details intended for public release.

What happens after you contact us

Understanding the first steps makes the process quicker for everyone.

  2. 02We reply to the email address you provided, telling you whether we can assist and what the next step would be.
  3. 03If we can help, we confirm the scope of the work and the basis of our fees in writing before any work begins.
